In 1853 Edo, young tea ceremony apprentice Yuki must preserve chanoyu's ancient traditions when Commodore Perry's ships arrive, forcing her to choose between her master's rigid teachings and an innovative approach that could either save or betray the sacred art she loves.

A traditional tea house tucked in Edo's quiet quarter, where worn tatami mats and a scroll of falling cherry blossoms create an atmosphere of suspended time. The preparation room's dim light filters through paper screens, illuminating the cold charcoal hearth and aged utensils that bear decades of careful use.

The rocky shoreline where fishermen and merchants gather to whisper about the black ships, Western smoke staining the pristine horizon where Mount Fuji should rise. The air tastes of salt and unfamiliar tobacco, while broken shells and driftwood scatter the ground like fragments of a world already breaking apart.
Yuki trains under Master Taro at The Silent Tear Tea House, perfecting each gesture while seeking his approval, as rumors of Perry's black ships arrive from Edo Bay.
Yuki performs a flawless tea ceremony at The Silent Tear Tea House but receives only correction from Master Taro, then encounters Kenji who has returned from Nagasaki with tales of Western ships, and finally visits Edo Bay Shore where she witnesses the black smoke staining the horizon for the first time.
Yuki performs the sumi demae charcoal procedure with flawless precision at The Silent Tear Tea House, but Master Taro finds only fault in her execution.

Kenji finds Yuki in the garden and bursts with tales of Western ships and technologies from Nagasaki, urging her to witness the changes coming to Edo Bay.

At the Edo Bay Shore, Yuki witnesses the black smoke plume from Perry's ships staining the horizon where Mount Fuji should rise, realizing the world has already changed.

As Perry's ships anchor in Edo Bay, Yuki proposes adapting chanoyu for foreign visitors, leading to a devastating confrontation with Master Taro that fractures their bond and her self-belief.
Yuki creates a new ceremony that honors chanoyu's heart while making it accessible, performing it for both Master Taro and foreign observers, discovering her true path as a tea master.
